Brainomix’s e-Stroke Platform Goes Live at North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust

Brainomix continues to be a strong partner of NHS stroke teams, with this latest deployment part of a wider North East of England stroke AI network

North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust have incorporated e-Stroke into their local stroke service. The AI-powered software from Oxford-based Brainomix supports doctors by providing real-time interpretation of brain scans to help guide treatment and transfer decisions for stroke patients.

Dr. Ijaz Anwar, Stroke Consultant at the Trust, spoke about how Brainomix’s e-Stroke has already helped to transform their stroke service – particularly when managing thrombectomy-eligible patients who may require transfer to Newcastle for advanced treatment. “With the introduction of e-Stroke, we can now instantaneously share images with our colleagues in Newcastle, the main thrombectomy centre. The e-Stroke software automatically identifies large vessel occlusions (LVO’s), highlighting any problems early on, and ultimately reducing transfer and treatment times for our patients.”

Dr. Deepak Dwarakanath, Medical Director and Deputy Chief Executive, also commented: “The e-Stroke software supports the development of our highly rated stroke services to attain the next level of treatment for our patients. Stroke is a debilitating condition; this technology will enable a speedy “brain-saving” diagnosis of patients who will benefit from mechanical thrombectomy. We will save lives and minimize the impact of stroke on both patients and their families.”

The deployment of e-Stroke at North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust – which covers a local population of 400,000 people – is part of a wider roll-out of Brainomix software across the North East of England. “The NHS continues to choose to partner with Brainomix, and we are pleased to collaborate with the clinical stroke team at North Tees & Hartlepool, who are now joined up with the wider, multi-centred stroke AI network comprising Newcastle, County Durham & Darlington, South Tyneside & Sunderland, South Tees, North Tees, Northumbria and North Cumbria. We are confident our technology will help clinicians identify the right patients for life-saving stroke treatments,” noted Riaz Rahman, VP Healthcare Global at Brainomix.
