Baseline Emissions Footprint
Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and are produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.
2025 will be the first year that Brainomix Limited has measured and will report its greenhouse gas emissions and therefore this serves as the Company's baseline year. This baseline will be used as the reference point against which future carbon reduction initiatives and emissions performance will be measured.
Brainomix Limited is the parent company of the wider Brainomix Group, which includes 100% owned entities in the United States, Ireland and Sweden. Brainomix Limited operates its principal office in Oxford, United Kingdom, and maintains virtual offices in Dublin, Ireland and Chicago, USA.
During the baseline year, Brainomix Limited employed 67 people within the United Kingdom. The wider Brainomix Group employed 79 people globally.
As 2025 represents both the baseline year and the first year of greenhouse gas reporting, no year-on-year comparison or emissions reduction achievements can yet be demonstrated. Future Carbon Reduction Plans will report progress against the 2025 baseline and track the effectiveness of carbon reduction initiatives implemented by the Company.
The Company currently is in the process of calculating total carbon emissions with the following scope:
Scope 1
Brainomix Limited is an AI Imaging Company specializing in the creation of AI-powered imaging biomarkers to enable precision medicine for better treatment decisions.
The Company does not undertake manufacturing activities, operate industrial processes or maintain production facilities.
Brainomix Limited operates from leased office accommodation within a multi-occupancy commercial building and does not own or control any combustion equipment, boilers, generators, company vehicles or other direct sources of fuel combustion. The Company operates Hybrid working which means the Office size can be maintained with growth.
The Company does not directly procure or consume natural gas. Any gas consumption associated with building heating, cooling, chillers or other central plant forms part of the landlord-controlled building infrastructure and is not operated or controlled by Brainomix Limited.
Accordingly, Brainomix Limited has no reportable Scope 1 emissions for the baseline year and Scope 1 emissions are reported as 0.00 tCO₂e.
Scope 2
Brainomix Limited occupies office space within a multi-occupancy commercial building. Electricity consumption attributable to the Company comprises both directly metered electricity and landlord-apportioned electricity associated with shared building services.
Directly attributable electricity consumption is measured through a dedicated electricity meter serving the Company's occupied office space. This includes electricity used for lighting, IT equipment, communications systems, kitchen facilities and general office operations.
In addition, Brainomix Limited is allocated a proportion of electricity consumed by building heating and cooling systems. These systems are measured through shared submeters serving multiple occupiers and are apportioned between tenants on the basis of occupied floor area.
Brainomix Limited is also allocated a proportion of communal area electricity consumption. Communal consumption includes electricity associated with corridors, reception areas, shared facilities, plant rooms and other common building services. The landlord calculates communal electricity consumption as the residual building electricity consumption remaining after directly recharged tenant consumption has been deducted from total building consumption. This consumption is subsequently apportioned to tenants in accordance with occupied floor area and the applicable service charge methodology.
All electricity consumption attributable to Brainomix Limited has been calculated using landlord-provided meter readings, consumption data and apportionment methodologies. Greenhouse gas emissions have been calculated using the relevant UK Government Greenhouse Gas Conversion Factors for the reporting year.
The Company will use both market and location based methodology to calculate the total emissions.
Scope 3
Upstream transportation and distribution
As Brainomix Limited is a software company and does not manufacture or distribute physical products, emissions associated with this category are expected to be limited primarily to the delivery of purchased IT equipment and office supplies. At present, these emissions are not separately quantified due to the limited availability of supplier-specific transportation data and are considered to be immaterial in the context of the Company's overall carbon footprint. The Company will continue to review opportunities to improve data quality as part of its carbon reduction program.
Waste generated in operations
As a Software Company, Brainomix Limited generates relatively low volumes of operational waste. The Company's waste streams primarily comprise general office waste, mixed recycling, paper and cardboard waste, and food waste arising from normal office activities.
Brainomix Limited occupies leased office accommodation within a multi-occupancy commercial building. Waste management services are provided by the building management company, which records waste volumes for the building as a whole.
Business travel
Corporate travel management platforms are used across the Group and, as a result, travel reports include activity relating to multiple group entities. The available data has been reviewed and assessed to identify travel attributable to Brainomix Limited and its business activities.
During the reporting period, Brainomix Limited utilized two corporate travel management providers to arrange and manage business travel. Emissions have been calculated using travel activity data supplied by these providers and the relevant UK Government Greenhouse Gas Conversion Factors for the reporting year.
The reported data includes travel undertaken by employees and certain non-employees travelling on behalf of the Company, including specialist consultants, physicians supporting the Company's products and services, and interviewing candidates, where such travel was arranged, funded or reimbursed by Brainomix Limited.
The Company recognizes that certain business travel and accommodation activities are not fully captured within the available reporting data. These may include hotel bookings made directly with accommodation providers, travel arranged outside approved travel management systems, and accommodation booked under preferred corporate hotel agreements that are not currently captured within travel management reporting. Brainomix Limited considers such omissions to be limited in nature but acknowledges that reported business travel emissions may marginally understate actual emissions for the reporting period.
Employee commuting
Employee commuting emissions have been estimated using employee home location data maintained within Brainomix Limited's HR systems together with the Company's hybrid working arrangements during the reporting period.
During the baseline year, Brainomix Limited operated a hybrid working model. From January to April 2025, employees were generally required to attend the office two days per week. From May 2025 onwards, the policy was amended and employees residing within 45 miles of the Oxford office were generally required to attend the office three days per week. Employees residing more than 45 miles from the office were permitted alternative attendance arrangements based on operational requirements and individual agreements.
Commuting distances were estimated using employee home locations and the Oxford office location. Annual commuting journeys were calculated using the applicable office attendance requirement for each employee during the reporting period. Where specific attendance arrangements were known, these were incorporated into the calculation in place of the standard attendance assumptions.
The calculation reflects both phases of the Company's hybrid working policy during 2025 and assumes a standard working year after allowing for annual leave, public holidays and other periods of absence. Commuting distances were calculated as return journeys.
Greenhouse gas emissions were calculated using the relevant UK Government Greenhouse Gas Conversion Factors and appropriate transport mode assumptions based on available employee information.
Brainomix Limited considers this methodology to provide a reasonable and representative estimate of employee commuting emissions for the baseline reporting year. The Company will continue to improve the accuracy of commuting emissions reporting through enhanced employee travel data collection and periodic employee travel surveys.
Downstream transportation and distribution
Brainomix Limited’s products are principally delivered electronically through software deployment, cloud-based services and digital distribution channels.
As a result, Brainomix Limited does not distribute physical products, maintain warehousing facilities, or operate logistics networks associated with the transportation of goods to customers. Consequently, emissions arising from downstream transportation and distribution activities are considered to be minimal.
No material downstream transportation emissions have been identified for the reporting period.
Brainomix Limited will continue to review this emissions category annually and, as reporting maturity develops, and will assess whether any downstream transportation and distribution activities become sufficiently material to warrant separate quantification and reporting.
Purchased Goods and Services
Cloud hosting and data centers
Brainomix Limited utilizes Amazon Web Services (AWS) as its primary cloud infrastructure provider for the hosting of production systems, research environments, machine learning workloads and customer-facing services.
The Company obtains supplier-specific carbon emissions data through AWS Carbon Emissions reporting. This reporting provides emissions associated with cloud service consumption and includes both location-based and market-based emissions calculations.
As supplier-specific emissions data is available, this has been used in preference to spend-based estimation methodologies and is considered to provide a more accurate representation of emissions associated with cloud-hosted services.
The AWS emissions data includes infrastructure supporting Brainomix 360 Cloud, research and development activities, machine learning environments, data storage and associated supporting services.
Transportation
As a software development and medical technology company, Brainomix Limited procures relatively low volumes of physical goods compared with organizations engaged in manufacturing, distribution or logistics activities. Purchased items primarily comprise information technology equipment, office supplies and other business support materials required for the Company's operations.
Transportation emissions associated with the delivery of purchased goods and services are considered within the Scope 3 category for Purchased Goods and Services rather than within Downstream Transportation and Distribution. However, detailed supplier-specific transportation data is not currently available for the reporting period.
Given the nature of the Company's operations and the relatively limited volume of physical goods procured, transportation emissions relating to purchased items are not considered to be a material contributor to Brainomix Limited's overall carbon footprint at this time.
As 2025 represents the Company's baseline reporting year, emissions associated with the transportation of purchased goods have not been separately quantified. Brainomix Limited will continue to review this category and seek opportunities to improve data quality through supplier engagement and the collection of more detailed procurement and delivery information where available.
Homeworking
Brainomix Limited operates a hybrid working model and recognizes that employee homeworking results in indirect greenhouse gas emissions associated with domestic energy consumption, including electricity, heating and related household utilities used during working hours.
At present, Brainomix Limited does not routinely collect sufficient data regarding employee home energy consumption, homeworking patterns or domestic utility usage to enable a robust and reliable calculation of homeworking emissions. Accordingly, homeworking emissions have not been quantified within the baseline year inventory.
The Company recognizes that homeworking may contribute to its overall Scope 3 emissions profile and has therefore identified this category as an area for future reporting development.
Completed Carbon Reduction Initiatives
The following environmental management measures and projects have been completed or implemented since the 2025 baseline. Once the Company has final baseline numbers the impact of these initiatives will be fully reported.
As 2025 represents Brainomix Limited's baseline year for greenhouse gas reporting, the Company has already implemented a number of initiatives that contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and support the efficient use of resources across its operations.
Energy Efficiency and Office Operations
Brainomix Limited occupies leased office accommodation and promotes energy-efficient working practices throughout its operations. Measures implemented include:
Automatic power management settings on employee devices to reduce energy consumption when equipment is not actively in use.
Use of digital collaboration tools and electronic document management to minimize paper consumption and reduce waste generation.
Hybrid working arrangements that reduce employee commuting and support more efficient use of office facilities.
Sustainable IT Asset Management
Brainomix Limited seeks to maximize the useful life of information technology equipment and minimize unnecessary procurement and electronic waste.
Measures implemented include:
- Maintenance and repair of hardware where economically viable to extend equipment lifespan.
- Ongoing monitoring of device performance and utilization to ensure efficient use of technology assets.
- Responsible replacement practices that seek to maximize asset lifecycle value before disposal.
Cloud Infrastructure and Digital Operations
Brainomix Limited uses Amazon Web Services (AWS) as its primary Infrastructure-as-a-Service provider for the hosting of critical business systems, customer-facing applications and research environments.
To reduce emissions associated with digital infrastructure, the Company has implemented a number of measures including:
Continuous monitoring of cloud-hosted resources to ensure systems are appropriately sized and not over-provisioned.
Use of auto-scaling infrastructure for machine learning and algorithm research activities, ensuring computing resources are automatically reduced or shut down when workloads are not running.
Optimization of the Brainomix 360 Continuous Integration and Build Pipeline to minimize compute runtime associated with software development, testing and release activities.
Decommissioning of legacy systems and consolidation of services where appropriate to reduce computing requirements, power consumption and administrative overhead.
Maintenance of a limited on-premise hardware footprint, reducing electricity consumption and the need for additional physical infrastructure.
Brainomix also reviews supplier-provided sustainability information, including AWS Carbon Emissions reporting, to identify opportunities for further optimization and emissions reduction.
Digital Healthcare Solutions
Brainomix develops software solutions that support remote clinical decision-making and healthcare service delivery.
Brainomix e-Stroke can be used to support telemedicine services, enabling clinicians to collaborate remotely and reducing the need for certain onsite meetings and travel. This digital-first approach supports more efficient access to specialist expertise whilst reducing travel-related emissions associated with healthcare delivery.
Waste Reduction
As a software-based organization, Brainomix Limited generates relatively low volumes of operational waste. The Company promotes:

- Electronic document management.
- Responsible procurement and resource consumption.
- Participation in building recycling and waste management initiatives.

As a software medical device company, the majority of emissions arise from purchased electricity, employee commuting, business travel and procurement of IT equipment and cloud-based services.
